Wedding
So the wedding went on...but not as planned. It was supposed to be outside, in a lovely wild field. But alas the winds and rain of fate said it was not to be, thus the back-up plan was crazily instituted and executed within a matter of 24 hours. We tried to build "a forest inside" complete with an 8 foot tall japanese maple tree- which is now planted at the farm as a memory.
We really had a great time with everybody, and a lot of people asked us where we got our vows. We actually wrote them... borrowing a few things from here and there to create what we really wanted to say to each other. I was especially pleased that one friend later noted that they weren't of the "silly cheesy sort that most self-written vows usually turn out to be". So here they are. Just let me know if you decide to use them, k? :)
Before God who has given us the gift of love,
and asking for His power and grace
to keep the promises we now make,
I join with you in the covenant of marriage.
I promise to provide for and support you;
To strive with you to acquire faith, knowledge, harmony, and happiness
by mutual love, respect, and understanding.
I promise to be true, faithful, and loyal to only you,
to show life-giving love to you,
to share all that I have with you,
to daily make sacrifices for you,
to learn to forgive you as God has forgiven us,
to give all that I am to you,
and be your lifelong companion.
I promise to live with you in peace,
to abide in the will of God,
to cherish and protect our relationship whether in good fortune or adversity,
and to seek with you a full life of faith,
and follow with you wherever God leads us,
as long as we live.
I give you this ring
as a public and clear declaration
of our commitment to each other,
as a reminder to me, to you,
and the rest of the world
of this day and its continual importance.
For Christ there is one bride,
and for man, there is but one wife.
The trinity is never alone, but in perfect accord;
by His model in truth and love
and in His help for this life,
we will display the same.
